Which RAM 1500 is in your driveway?
With the RAM 1500, the generation is the first deciding factor. The DS was built until the 2018 model year and subsequently sold as the RAM 1500 Classic. Starting with the 2019 model year, the new DT was introduced, while the Classic continued to be produced in parallel. The model year alone says little about which RAM is in front of you. In addition, there are three common engines: the 3.6 Pentastar V6, the 5.7 HEMI V8, and the 3.0 EcoDiesel.
Where the typical mix-ups occur with the RAM 1500
- Bolt pattern: The DS and Classic have five wheel studs, while the DT has six. Brake discs, hubs, and rims are therefore not interchangeable.
- Brakes: Even within a single generation, there are different discs and pads depending on the equipment level.
- Spark plugs: The 5.7 HEMI has two plugs per cylinder, meaning 16 in total. The EcoDiesel has none at all.
- Lift kits: A RAM with air suspension requires a different kit than one with steel springs.
- Truck bed: Covers and step aids depend on the generation, the length of the truck bed, and whether a RamBox is installed.
How we check parts for your RAM 1500
Using "Request parts by VIN," you send us the 17-digit VIN and tell us what you need. This allows us to narrow down the generation, engine, and trim to determine the correct part number. This applies to brakes just as it does to air and cabin filters. Where the VIN alone isn't enough, we ask specific follow-up questions, such as requesting a photo of the old part. After that, you will receive a firm offer with a final price including shipping and customs. Whether you order is up to you.
In the shop, you only see a portion of what we can source. Some items can be ordered directly, while many are available upon request. If your part is missing here, ask us anyway. This also applies to workshops that service multiple RAM vehicles.
