Overview

When the air filter in your RAM 1500 or 2500 is worn out, you usually notice it first in the intake noise, a dull throttle response or fuel consumption slowly creeping up. This filter insert replaces the stock air filter. Which version and which dimensions belong to your RAM, we check by VIN.

Within one model line there are often several engine and intake variants over the years, and that is exactly where it is decided whether the filter really fits or only almost.

Installation & notes

On most RAM models the swap is straightforward: open the air filter box (usually a few clips or screws), take out the old filter, insert the new one in the correct orientation, close the box again. No special tools needed. A few points to watch anyway:

• Before installation, check the sealing lip on the edge of the new filter for damage – a warped or squashed filter doesn't seal properly and lets unmetered air past the mass airflow sensor.
• Before inserting, quickly check the filter box for leaves, sand or oil residue, especially if the truck is used a lot off-road or on construction sites.
• With retrofitted performance intake systems the fitting position can differ from stock – better measure beforehand or clarify it with us.
• After installation, check the seat at the housing edge by hand again before the lid is finally fastened.
