How to tell the pump is faulty

The pump hums, but little or no fluid comes out, even though the reservoir, hoses and nozzles are clear.
You press the switch and hear nothing, even though power reaches the pump's plug.

If no power reaches the plug, the fault is in the fuse, switch or wiring, not in the pump.
