Installation & Notes

Changing the rear brake pads is standard work for any shop with a lift on these models – however, here are a few practical points that are often overlooked with US vehicles:

• Before installation, check the old guide pins and brake caliper brackets for rust – these are often more heavily corroded on vehicles driven in German winters than on their US counterparts.
• Replace the included mounting hardware (clips, springs) rather than reusing the old ones – this is important for quiet braking performance with ceramic pads.
• Check the brake fluid and the condition of the brake discs if the pads were significantly worn – fresh pads on a warped disc will not help.
• For vehicles with an electric parking brake (depending on year/trim), pay attention to the reset procedure for the brake calipers – do not simply push them back.
